John Kerry: The $200 Million 'Secretary of State'

(CNSNews.com) – Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass), who is President Obama’s nominee for Secretary of State,  was the third richest member of Congress in 2011, behind only Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Tex.) and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), and Kerry currently is the wealthiest member of the Senate, according to financial disclosure statements.
The vast majority of Kerry’s holdings are part of three trusts linked with his wife Teresa Heinz-Kerry’s family fortune. Heinz-Kerry is heiress to the Heinz ketchup fortune, reportedly valued at around $1 billion.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Sen. Kerry’s net worth is somewhere between $184,268,546 and $287,685,063. Because lawmakers report assets and liabilities in value ranges rather than exact amounts, a precise net worth is difficult to ascertain.
